Women's Health ProgramsThe Lois Hole Hospital for Women meets the growing demands for Women’s Health services in central and northern Alberta and across Canada's northwest. The hospital will provide expanded space for Women’s Health programs, access to the latest technology and will support bold new research to help women of all ages and in all stages in life.

Gynecologic Oncology

The Royal Alexandra Hospital Women's Centre provides the largest gynecological service in Alberta with four operating rooms dedicated to Women's Health, for both day surgery and other surgical procedures. The Colposcopy Clinic provides diagnoses and treatment to more than 2,500 patients every year.

The Gynecology Oncology Unit provides all of Edmonton's inpatient surgical work for women with gynecological cancer and is supported by the Gynecology Inpatient Unit which has 34 in-patient beds and 10 day-surgery stretchers.

This program will be integrated and expanded as part of the Lois Hole Hospital for Women in the future.

Maternal-Fetal Medicine

The Royal Alexandra Hospital delivers 4,200 babies every year. The hospital provides additional care for high-risk moms, including a three-bed unit for high-risk pregnant women. The Perinatology Clinic offers obstetrics services to patients in northern and central Alberta, as well as across western Canada. And we have successfully piloted a project that allows midwifes access to hospitals.

This program will be integrated and expanded as part of the Lois Hole Hospital for Women in the future.

Urogynecology

The Lois Hole Hospital for Women is a national leader in the treatment of incontinence. A collaborative team involving urogynecologists and urotherapy physical therapists as well as two nurse educators offer a continuum of care for patients.
